Frederiksdorp day trip

Frederiksdorp is a former 18th century coffee and cocoa plantation. The first owner was a German from Prussia, Johan Friedrich Knöffel, to whom the plantation owes its name to this day. The history of Frederiksdorp is reminiscent of both European and African traditions. Frederiksdorp is the center of the right bank of the Commewijne River. It has its own character with surrounding plantations, fishing villages, sea beaches, mangrove forests, bird swamps, dolphins and long cycling and walking paths.

This former plantation with original plantation houses and a police post has been converted into an attractive holiday resort. The historic buildings of Frederiksdorp are on the Commewijne monument list. There is a swimming pool with a beautiful pool deck and a large river terrace. This resort also has a good restaurant and well-stocked bar. There are various excursion options in the nearby area, from educational to active. Bicycles are also available for rent for independent exploration.
