DIRECTIONS
We go to the Lucie River with a group of maximum 7 people and 2 experienced wildlife guides. This river is located in the southwest of Suriname, we fly from Zorg en Hoop airport to the airstrip of Amatopo, a small indigenous village on the Courantyne river, from where we travel by boat to the Lucie river.

RIVER
Rivers are the veins of the rainforest, traveling on foot can be very difficult, but the river gives us the opportunity to cover more ground, navigate better, carry more provisions, have great views and lots of wildlife to spot!!

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK
Very few people have visited this unknown and untouched area. We will discover beautiful places along the river and there we will have the chance to see Suriname's big five: anacondas, jaguars, tapirs, otters and the harpy eagle! We camp by the river overnight and continue the next morning. The physical challenge includes; push the boat over the rapids at low tide, drink water from the river (you get a bottle with a water filter), sleep in hammocks and explore the area day and night. On the last day we fly back to Paramaribo with an experience of a lifetime and hopefully many great moments together!

DAY 1
After arriving on the first day in the small indigenous village of Amatopo we will not stay long. We store all our gear directly on the boat and leave the Courantyne River for the smaller Lucie River. We will spend our first night for a long stretch of consecutive rapids.

DAY 2
The second day we travel upstream all day. A rapid of thirty kilometers will not make it easy for us. Jump out of the boat, drag it over the rapids, jump back in and repeat this countless times. This adventurous route deters most people from traveling that far upstream. This means that this area is rarely visited and the wildness of the forest and animals is intact!

EASIER DAYS
Once at the top of the rapids we will have long stretches of calm water where we can take the time to spot the big five of Suriname! In consultation with the group, we have the time in the coming days to spend the time as we wish. If we want to travel further upstream, or perhaps we have found a little paradise where we would like to stay a little longer and spot wildlife on foot through the jungle.

LAST FEW DAYS
Depending on how far upstream we have traveled, we will spend the last 2-3 days traveling back to Amatopo. We spend the last night in the jungle, not far from the village, so that we can reach the airstrip on time.
